Why Alto and Every Hit Hardest?

Interestingly, while all vehicles have seen price adjustments, the Suzuki Alto and Suzuki Every have received the biggest hike compared to other Suzuki models.

For instance, the top variant of the Swift saw a price increase of approximately Rs. 47,190. In contrast, Suzuki Alto’s top variant got almost 4x of the hike compared to Swift, see the table below for understanding:

The reason is the GST increase on Alto and Every. According to the budget 2025-26, the government has increased the General Sales Tax (GST) from 12.5% to 18% specifically for cars with engines of 850cc or lower. Since the Suzuki Alto and Suzuki Every fall into this category, they have incurred two tax impacts: both the increased GST (5.5% additional) and the newly introduced 1% NEV levy.

Other Suzuki models, such as the Swift and Cultus, which have engine capacities exceeding 850cc, are only affected by the new NEV levy (1%) and not by the increased GST. In contrast, Ravi, although it has an 800cc engine, already has an 18% GST rate as it falls under the commercial category. This difference explains why their prices have not surged as drastically as those of Alto and Every.

2026 Corolla Cross GR Sport – What’s New?

Fresh Looks Outside

Toyota has given the Corolla Cross a style boost for 2026, starting right at the front. There’s a new honeycomb grille and sleeker headlights that give it a sharper, more modern face. The top-tier versions even get a cool LED light bar stretching across the front — a small detail that adds big attitude.

The updates at rear continue with redesigned taillights that now feature tiny fins (Toyota says they help with stability, but hey — they look sporty, so we’ll take it). The whole lineup also gets updated 18-inch wheels, giving the SUV a more refreshed, polished look.

Upgraded Cabin Comfort

Step inside and you’ll notice things feel a bit more upscale. There’s a bigger center console, a revamped gear shifter, and a new tech setup that includes a 10-inch touchscreen and a sharp 12.3-inch digital display. Wireless charging is onboard, too — a nice touch for staying connected on the go.

If you opt for the GR Sport trim, you’ll get some stylish extras like red-stitched leather and Alcantara seats, a sportier black roof liner, and exclusive 19-inch black wheels. And let’s not forget the slick new Storm Grey paint — a GR Sport exclusive that definitely turns heads.

Sporty Feel, Same Engine

Under the hood, the engine remains the same — no extra horsepower here. But Toyota has made some tweaks to make the drive more fun. The suspension sits a bit lower, the steering’s been sharpened, and paddle shifters are now standard. Plus, with the added Sport and Snow modes, you’ll feel a bit more in control, whether you’re carving corners or tackling slippery roads.

Toyota Corolla Facelift Revealed in China — Could Pakistan Get It Next?

The Toyota Corolla, Pakistan’s all-time best-selling sedan, is getting a fresh facelift overseas. Images released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) show the upcoming Corolla Allion, a mid-cycle refresh that sharpens the design but retains the current generation’s platform.

What Changed in the Facelift

According to leaked MIIT filings published by CarNewsChina, the updated Corolla features slimmer split-style LED headlights, a larger front grille, and new taillight internals connected by an illuminated strip. The tweaks bring it closer to Toyota’s global design language seen on the 2023 Toyota Prius and the latest Toyota RAV4.

While no interior images have been revealed, industry watchers expect either a carryover cabin or subtle updates, such as a larger infotainment screen. Under the hood, the Chinese version sticks with its 1.8L hybrid and 2.0L petrol engines.

Why Pakistan Should Pay Attention

In Pakistan, the Corolla remains a volume driver for Toyota Indus Motors (IMC), even as SUVs like the Yaris Cross, Corolla Cross, and Fortuner gain popularity. Here’s why this facelift matters locally:

  • Extended Life Cycle: If IMC decides to bring this facelift here, it could stretch the current Corolla’s relevance for another few years, delaying the need for an all-new model in a challenging economic climate (PAMA data shows sedans remain a resilient segment).
  • Competition Check: The Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra both boast sharper styling and modern cabins. A facelifted Corolla would help Toyota defend its dominance.
  • Hybrid Possibility: Globally, Toyota is doubling down on hybrids. If IMC aligns, even a mild-hybrid Corolla could make waves in Pakistan’s fuel-conscious market (similar to the Corolla Cross Hybrid).
  • Affordability Factor: With Pakistan’s price-sensitive buyers, any facelift here would likely stick to the 1.6L and 1.8L petrol variants, with cosmetic changes as the main draw.

The Bottom Line

While there’s no official word yet, the Corolla facelift signals Toyota’s strategy of keeping its sedan lineup fresh without rushing into a new generation. For Pakistani buyers, this could mean a more modern-looking Corolla arriving in showrooms in the next 12–18 months—if IMC finds it viable

Here’s the 1-1 direct comparison of both vehicles:

Engine and Performance

The Corolla Cross offers higher displacement but slightly lower output compared to the HR-V. The HR-V’s electric motor has significantly higher torque and horsepower, potentially offering stronger electric drive performance.

The Corolla Cross is slightly larger overall, with increased height, width, and length, which may provide more interior space. However, the HR-V features better ground clearance, which is beneficial for bad road conditions.

Interior Features

The biggest downside of the HR-V’s interior compared to the Cross is the climate control. The Cross has dual-zone climate control, while the HR-V only has single-zone, which is unusual since other cars in the same price range typically offer dual-zone.

Here, the HR-V takes a clear lead. Although the Corolla Cross offers an additional driver’s knee airbag, the HR-V stands out because of Honda Sensing, Honda’s proprietary advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). This system includes multiple driving assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, collision mitigation braking, and road departure mitigation, all of which are absent in the Corolla Cross.

Both the Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 HEV and Honda HR-V e:HEV are hybrid compact crossovers from well-established Japanese automakers with strong reputations in Pakistan. While the Corolla Cross offers practicality and reliable daily usability, the HR-V stands out with advanced safety technologies through Honda Sensing. Ultimately, the choice depends on individual preferences regarding performance, comfort, and the importance of modern safety and convenience fea
